HACIENDA DE GURU RAM DAS
"Epanola is the mother center of this entire 3HO family...The prosperity of self, and the future of the Dharma, tied in with the entire humanity, looks to Espanola as the mother center. Therefore, if God has guided you here and has given you the virtue to do service here and has given you that chance, then don't waste it. There is no greater opportunity than to serve this house and to meditate here." - Siri Singh Sahib Ji
The Mother Ashram is a peaceful, enlightened arena for spiritual growth on all levels--Bana, Bani, Simran and Seva, body, mind and soul. I decided to move here in 1999.
That summer I had gone to the 3HO Summer Solstice gathering in New Mexico. During a 31-minute tantric exercise, with our hands held two feet apart facing each other, I imagined seeing each place I wanted to live between my hands. My home state was a pattern of unwelcoming, clear-cut forests and a drugged-out soon to be exhusband. Los Angeles, where I have family, appeared as an image of traffic and concrete. But on placing Espanola between my hands, I was enraptured by the sight of an emerald island teeming with life and beauty.
As I was leaving the Solstice site, a woman offered me a job assisting in her Espanola home daycare, confirming this choice of havens.
Five years later when that same house was vacated, my small daycare in Sombrillo raised three thousand dollars at a yard sale from several flatbeds of local sangat donations and moved in. It is truly a haven, a sanctuary, for the children, our animals and a peaceful home for me to write my memoirs.
Within the embrace of the Mother Ashram, we never feel alone. Guru is everywhere--the sangat simply exemplifies his presence.
