I began experiencing Guru Yoga, combining the ten Sikh Gurus with Kundalini Yoga, while
calling on them during the Ten Body Meditation to heal my daughter
who had suffered brain injuries in a car accident. Although I was
traumatized by an impending divorce, during those prayers I
insisted that the Gurus send their healing energy to my daughter alone,
whose trauma was far more overwhelming, subtle and out of my reach than my own.
Most of my spiritual work had been on myself. It took this total shift
to another person for me to become awakened to the Gurus subtle realm.
In Guru Yoga you call on each Guru's divine quality to
augment your prayer's reach across any distance. There
is no distance. The person you pray for seems to be beneath your hand.
Your focus is not on the person except to direct energy. All focus
is lovingly on the sublime Divine source of healing love. How it flows through and
heals is the Gurus' doing.
Each
Guru's name is like a telephone number that connects you to a pure flow, sublimely empowering your meditative reach into divine realms never before imagined.
While doing a Kundalini Yoga simply inhale a Guru's name to imbue your self with their presence, and exhale their essence to the person or situaltion you wish to heal, or send a Guru's energies out through your hands with the repetition of a mantra. Call on the ten Gurus to support your meditative reach, and ask them to enter through your crown and bless through your hands--through your ten fingers, on the inhaled breath following a powerful kriya.
The ten Gurus' healing correspond to the ten bodies:
1. Guru Nanak -- Soul Body 2. Guru Angad -- Negative or Cautionary Mind 3. Guru Amar Das -- Positive Mind 4. Guru Ram Das -- Neutral Mind 5. Guru Arjan -- Physical Body 6. Guru Hargobind -- Arc Line or Halo 7. Guru Har Rai -- Aura 8. Guru Har Krishan -- Pranic Body 9. Guru Teg Bahadur -- Subtle Body 10. Guru Gobind Singh -- Radiant Body 11. Siri Guru Granth Sahib -- Mastery of all ten bodies
In doing the Guru Yoga with the Gurus, call upon their energies to engage with the object of your prayer. They will do the rest!
